The collection brings together 100 well-known Oxford dictionaries and reference books, plus an Encyclopedia and specialized foreign-language dictionaries, into a single cross-searchable Web database. This set of reference works includes comprehensive coverage across the spectrum of subjects, everything from General Reference, Language and Quotations to Science and Medicine, and from Humanities and Social Sciences to Business and Professional. Columbia Gazetteer
This database of geographical names, including their descriptions and characteristics, covers more than 165,000 places in the world. It offers access through 3 types of searches (place name, type of place, and keyword).
Encyclopedia Britannica
Britannica Online consists of a fully searchable and browsable collection of authoritative references, including Britannica's latest article database, hundreds of articles not found in the print Britannica, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (Tenth Edition), and the Britannica Book of the Year.

Language Resources

Oxford English Dictionary, 3rd Edition
The online Oxford English Dictionary contains the complete A to Z sequence of the Second Edition, its three-volume Additions Series, and also draft material produced in the progress towards the Third Edition. The revised and new entries will be added to the online Dictionary every quarter, and these will eventually cumulate to form the complete new edition. You may search the full text, definitions, etymologies, and quotations.
Webster's Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged
America's premier lexicographical work; the 1993 edition is published here in electronic form. A dictionary of the English language containing 450,000 vocabulary entries giving etymologies, definitions of the term as used since 1755, and over 200,000 illustrative quotations, mostly drawn from contemporary sources. Searches by headword, keyword, etymology, and author/quotation keyword are possible.
