Serial Cataloging has begun to send some newly-cataloged analyzed series (monographic series classified on a single call number) to the Harvard Depository when this seems appropriate. The decision to send a series to HD is made by the serial cataloger in consultation with Collection Development. Call numbers continue to be assigned for searching purposes, and Serial Records records the call number in the item with the prefix "Harvard Depository."
Monograph catalogers should treat these items as they do other serial analytics (except that the subfield |c in the LOC will, of course, be Harvard Depository rather than WID-LC): a subfield |j with the Hollis number of the parent serial record is added to the LOC field. Unbound items are forwarded to Serial Records, where item records will be created. For bound volumes, the cataloger should create an item record with an HD barcode attached to the serial record and forward the piece to End Processing.
