International Trade Statistics
World Trade Organization
This resource provides summary level trade data in MS Excel spreadsheet format. To view data by the following titles: World Trade in 2005, Selected Long-term Trends, Trade by Region and Trade by Sector, select “International Trade Statistics”. Trade profiles and times series data are also available by selecting "Statistics Database." Time series data is available from 1980-2005 and includes merchandise trade (by region and selected economies), commercial services trade (by region and selected economies), and regional integration arrangements.

Market Access Database
Eurostat
This Web site allows access to the Market Access Trade Barriers Database (which can be searched by country, sector and measure) and the Statistical Database (which provides country-level data by commodity). Data is available from 2000-2006 and is exportable to spreadsheet format.

Eurostat External Trade Data
Eurostat
Provides external EU trade data as well as trade between members of the EU. Data is available for long term and short term indicators.

UN Commodity Trade Statistics Database (UN Comtrade)
United Nations
Annual data by commodity and trade partner for over 130 countries for SITC 1, 4 and 5-digit and 1 or 6-digit Harmonised System (HS-1). For many countries the data coverage starts in 1962.

FAOSTAT Statistics Database
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
This is an on-line and multilingual (English, French, Spanish) database containing over 1 million time-series records covering international statistics in the areas of Production, Trade, Food Balance Sheets, Food Aid Shipments, Fertilizers and Pesticides, Land Use and Irrigation, Forest Products, Fishery Products, Population, Agricultural Machinery and Agricultural Production.
Also available on CD-Rom.

SourceOECD
OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development)
Trade databases within SourceOECD include International Trade and Competitiveness, ITCS International Trade by Commodity, and Monthly International Trade. Basic country-level trade data is also available in the Economic Outlook database and the Main Economic Indicators database.

International Trade by Commodities Statistics SITC rev. 1-3
OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development)
Contains detailed foreign trade by commodity statistics for OECD countries using the Harmonised System of commodity classification. Also provides both dollar value and quantity (in units appropriate to the product) for each flow. Includes SITC Revision 2 (data from 1961); SITC Revision 3 (data from 1991); Harmonised System 1988 (data from 1990); Harmonised System 1996 (data from 1996); and Total Trade and Trade Conversion Factors (data from 1991).

Provides U.S. export and import information on more than 18,000 commodities presented in the Harmonized Tariff Classification System for current month and previous month; cumulative year to date, current year and prior year; and annual two year and historical data.

Each CD-ROM holds 5 years of data and includes international trade statistics, market share and trend analyses. Data is available at the 1, 4 and 5-digit level SITC code and the 1 or 6-digit Harmonised System (HS-1) code.

Direction of Trade

Import and export data published monthly for over 150 countries. This CD-ROM includes a historical database with direction of trade data from 1948-1980.

TradeCAN
World Bank
TradeCAN is designed to analyze international, national, and regional competitiveness in commodities and manufactured exports; ability to calculate market shares for each three or four digit SITC export for 1985-1998; consists of two databases: TradeCAN 1, industrialized world's imports, and; TradeCAN 2, developing world's imports.
