Using RefWorks at Harvard

RefWorks and Full Text Links

The easiest way to link to full text from a citation you have stored in RefWorks is to select the button next to the article you want to see. The "Find it a Harvard" button will automatically appear next to each item in your RefWorks database; no work for you!

When you click on the button, if Harvard subscribes to a database that contains the full text of the article you are looking for, links to electronic versions of the article will be provided. If a print copy if available in Harvard libraries, you will see a link to the HOLLIS record for the journal.

If you prefer to have a persistent electronic link embedded in each record, you can create one using the instructions provided on the Linking to Harvard Library E-Resources guide. For making direct links to journal articles, consult the Linking to: Journals and Articles section.

Find the article in your RefWorks database and select Edit (next to the button).

Copy and paste the persistent link into the URL or Links field of the record for the article. Click on Save Reference at the bottom of the screen. You will be notified that This message has been saved.

Once the link is in the record, return to the reference list. If you click on View you can see the record with the active link. Note that a record can have more than one link.

Click on the link and the article will appear.
