Portals: The following collections of web sites are useful starting points for research in literature and other subjects.
A selective listing of websites for Spain, Portugal and Andorra, emphasizing language, literature, history, politics among other subjects. Maintained by the Western European Studies Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries.
Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC)
LANIC is a searchable directory of internet resources. This portal leads to a wealth of resources on the Caribbean, Central and South America and Mexico via numerous links arranged by subject. In addition, other links to research projects are included. The Humanities>>Languages link presents resources related to individual languages and language groups; the Humanities>>Literature link leads to resources arranged by country (including individual author sites, association and literary genre sites) and international, regional resources, journals and magazines. Of note are the Etext Collection, containing full-text resources (research and conference papers, speeches, periodical publications, official documents, etc. and the Latin American Studies resource section.
Internet Resources for Latin America
Housed at New Mexico State University Library, the site has links to a wide variety of guides, directories, subscription and public domain databases, digital library products, etc. and hosts a real-time news feed on the main page.
Latin Americanist Research Resources Project
Sponsored by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), this resource includes LAPTOC: Latin American Periodicals Tables of Contents, a searchable database of tables of contents for over 800 Latin American humanities and social sciences journals.
