Classical Music Library (Harvard users)

Online collection of recorded classical music. Includes short biographies of composers and other reference information.

Database of Recorded American Music (Harvard users)

Recordings (with liner notes, essays, bibliographies, and discographies) on labels such as New World Records, Composers Recordings, Inc. and more. Includes folk, opera, Native American, jazz, 19th century classical, early rock, musical theater, electronic, contemporary.

Music Online (Harvard users)

A portal featuring Alexander Street digital streaming products: Contemporary World Music, American Song (which was merged with the African American Song collection), Dance in Video, and African American Music Reference. American Song contains over 50,000 tracks of American roots music and pre-1960 American popular music including country, folk, bluegrass, Western, old time, American Indian, blues, gospel, and shape note singing, and African American song includes important artists in the history of American music (jazz, blues, gospel, ragtime, and folk).

Naxos Music Library (Harvard Users; please log out of session after use and turn off pop-up blockers)

Online collection of recorded music, primarily classical, delivered via streaming audio. Naxos Music Library: Jazz: 23,000 additional tracks of music from the Fantasy jazz catalog. The collection spans the genres of jazz, blues, R&B, and more.

Opera in Video (Harvard users)

Online video of staged performances of operas (with liner notes, subtitle transcripts, full work and scene-by-scene access), documentaries, and interviews.

Smithsonian Global Sound (Harvard users)

Online collection of recorded sound, including folk, popular, and classical world music, speeches, and oral histories.
