3. Finding Material in Widener Library

Widener Library houses ten levels of book stacks in the main building, and two in adjacent Pusey Library (accessed via the main Widener stacks). Widener collections are also housed in the Harvard Depository, an offsite storage facility.

Finding materials at Widener includes information on locating books and periodicals, and guidance in find your way in the building and stacks.

  • The Call Number charts help you find locations for materials in Widener's stacks.
  • If you find that we do not own a book or journal you need for your research, you may want to request the title via Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Use the online request form.
  • You may also find records in HOLLIS for Widener material in Harvard Depository. This is an off-site library storage facility, and you can request materials be brought to Widener or to another library, for your use in the library or to borrow, by clicking the Availability link in the HOLLIS record, and then clicking the Request link. A Harvard ID and PIN are required.
