Linking to HOLLIS: Individual Records

The URL that you see in the browser address bar of a HOLLIS catalog search is a temporary link. To make a permanent link to an individual HOLLIS catalog records, follow these steps:

1. Go to HOLLIS

2. Find the record you would like to link to.

3. Find "Link to this record" and copy and paste the URL that appears there into your course web page.

Example:

Linking to HOLLIS: Searches

To link to a specific query, such as a search for "chaucer," use a URL in this form: http://hollis.harvard.edu/?q=chaucer

To search for a specific subject, such as "Patent laws and legislation," use this syntax: http://hollis.harvard.edu/?q=subjects:"Patent+laws+and+legislation"

Any of the indexes listed in the Advanced Search section can be used in this manner. To combine a fielded search with a keyword search, such as "Thomas Jefferson" as an author and "slavery" as a keyword anywhere, use: http://hollis.harvard.edu/?q=author:"Thomas+Jefferson"+slavery

Linking to HOLLIS Classic: Individual Records

The URL that you see in the browser address bar of a HOLLIS catalog search is a temporary link. To make a permanent link to an individual HOLLIS Classic catalog records, follow these steps:

1. Go to the HOLLIS Classic Catalog

2. Find the record you would like to link to.

3. Make note of the HOLLIS number, located at the bottom of the record e.g. "000407347"

4. Copy and paste the URL below into your course web page, replacing XXX with the HOLLIS number:

http://hollisclassic.harvard.edu/F/?func=find-c&CCL_TERM=(sys=XXX)

Example:
http://hollisclassic.harvard.edu/F/?func=find-c&CCL_TERM=(sys=407347)
