Linking to Harvard Library E-Resources

3. Linking to Electronic Databases

Persistent links for most Harvard E-Reseach databases can be found by locating a database in the "Find E-Resources" section of the E-Research@Harvard Libraries site and then clicking on the information icon:

Then, simply copy and paste this URL into your web page.
Here, is the two-step process:

Go to http://e-research.lib.harvard.edu and locate your e-resource, then click on the information icon and located the persistent link (the URN), noted as a bookmark in the details that appear.

In addition to databases, it is also often possible to link to individual records or items within particular e-resources. Here is an example:

Linking to A Single Entry in the Oxford English Dictionary

1. Connect to the OED from a Harvard gateway, like the E-Research@Harvard Libraries portal.
2. Locate your word/definition within the OED using the Find Word tool.
3. When your word/definition appears, copy the address in your browser and use it as a persistent URL.
