1. Introduction

This guide was created for Professor Sindhumathi Revuluri's class, Music 193rt: Global Pop Music (Spring 2008). It is intended as a highly selective starter guide for Harvard Libraries resources in world popular music (some resources will be restricted to Harvard users). As with any type of research, there are many other sources that should be consulted. Rather than trying to be comprehensive, it is intended just to pique students' interest in further exploration of topics on the syllabus.

Text sources and historical context are covered more heavily than recordings so as not to duplicate material covered in class and to support research paper projects. Please note that site is under construction throughout the semester. Watch this space for more categories such as geographical areas and concepts.

World music resources at Harvard include holdings in the Lamont Library, Morse Music and Media Center (circulating recordings), Tozzer Library (Anthropology), and Loeb Music Library which houses the Archive of World Music.
