MLA
International Bibliography
The MLA International Bibliography, produced by the Modern Language Association, consists of citations to materials in literature, modern languages, linguistics and folklore. The MLA provides access to scholarly articles in over 3,000 journals and series. It also covers relevant monographs, book chapters, working papers, proceedings, bibliographies and dissertations.
The drop-down menus provide for searching by various means (keyword, author of the article, etc.) and searches may be limited by date, type of publication, language, etc. From the results screen, citations or full-text may be e-mailed by selecting that option either from the abstract screen or the full-text. Printing is also possible.
The MLA Directory of Periodicals allows for browsing or searching for titles. Entries include notes on the scope of the journal, publication, editorial and submission details, submission requirements, et al.
FRANCIS covers a wide range of multilingual, multidisciplinary information in the humanities, social sciences, and economics. FRANCIS is strong in religion, the history of art, and literature, with particular emphasis on current trends in European and world literature. Updated monthly, FRANCIS covers 1984 to the present.
JSTOR consists of more than a hundred journal titles in varied topics (from ethnology to economics) and will initially contain approximately 750,000 journal page images. JSTOR allows for browsing as well as searching and viewing, printing or downloading the text of the journals. Examples of journals of interest: Critical Inquiry, Diacritics, Eighteenth-Century Studies, French Historical Studies, MLN (Modern Language Notes), Yale French Studies.
Project Muse intends to provide networked access to the full
text of scholarly journals published by several university presses in
the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics. Browsing by subject
and collection is possible from the main search page. Browsing and full-text
search are available. Examples of journals of interest: French Forum,
French Historical Studies, Journal of History of Philosophy, MLN (Modern
Language Notes),Philosophy and Literature, Yale Journal of Criticism
and others.
PsycINFO
PsycINFO indexes and provides abstracts for the professional and academic literature in psychology and related disciplines (psychiatry, education, linguistics, neurosciences, etc.) It indexes over 1800 journals in more than 24 languages annually, as well as books, book chapters, dissertations, reports, etc. Produced by the American Psychological Association. Covers 1872 - the present. PsycINFO includes the two print titles: Psychological Index (1887-1926), which indexes journal articles from 1872 forward; and Psychological Abstracts (1927-the present)
Contemporary Women's Issues provides full text access to a variety of English-language sources concerned with women's issues in 190 countries. The database includes journals, newsletters, research reports, pamphlets, newspapers, directories, guides, and fact sheets published in scholarly publications as well as published by government and non-profit agencies and international organizations. Covers 1992 to the present.
Sociological Abstracts is a core resource for researchers, professionals,
and students in sociology, social planning/policy, and related disciplines.
It includes citations and abstracts from over 1800 journals, relevant
dissertations, selected books and book chapters, and association papers,
as well as citations for book reviews and other media.
It includes the following subfiles:

Abstracts (produced by the American Sociological Association), plus relevant
dissertation listings, abstracts of association papers and selected books,
and citations of book reviews and other media;
• Citations and abstracts from Social Planning/Policy & Development

Women's Resources International
Citations and abstracts are drawn from a variety of essential women's studies databases which range in coverage from classic works & core studies to the latest scholarship in feminist research. Databases include Women Studies Abstracts, Women's Studies Database, Women's Studies Bibliography Database, POPLINE Subset on Women, Women of Color and Southern Women: A Bibliography of Social Science Research, and Women's Health and Development: An Annotated Bibliography.
Dissertations and Theses Full-Text
Dissertations and Theses Full Text indexes dissertations and masters' theses from most North American graduate schools as well as some European universities. Covers 1861 to the present, providing full text for most indexed dissertations from 1990-present. Features include searching by elements such as title, author, keyword, adviser, subject, school, language and degree. Dissertations may be requested (free) via Widener's Interlibrary Loan online form (Harvard ID and PIN required).
Historical Abstracts is a reference guide to the history of the world from 1450 to the present (excluding the United States and Canada, which are covered in America: History and Life). Currently over 2,000 journals published throughout the world are covered in the database, including key historical journals from virtually every major country. Citations often include abstracts (in English). In addition to articles, Historical Abstracts includes citations to historical books and to abstracts of dissertations. The database contains the entire print backfile from 1954 to the present; it is updated monthly.
Worldwide Political Science Abstracts
Worldwide Political Science Abstracts indexes the international
serials literature in political science and its related fields, including
international relations, law, and public administration / policy. Abstracts
are provided for most citations and links to the full-text are included
beginning in 2004 for records with ISSNs. Older records are based on the
merged backfiles of Political Science Abstracts and ABC-Poli Sci. Covers
1975 to present.
Arts
& Humanities Citation Index
Arts & Humanities Citation Index, published by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), is a multidisciplinary database covering the journal literature of the arts and humanities. It indexes 1,400 of the world's leading arts and humanities journals, as well as covering individually selected, relevant items from over 7,000 major science and social science journals. Because the information stored about each article includes the article's cited reference list (often called its bibliography), you can also search the databases for articles that cite a known author or work.
