Junior Parents Gather at Widener
March 2, 2012 - Library staff from across HCL welcomed hundreds of parents and families of College juniors to Widener Library, as part of Junior Parents' Weekend. Harvard College's Office of Student Life (OSL) hosts the weekend, which is filled with lectures by distinguished faculty, House, arts and athletic events, luncheons and other activities. Services for Academic Programs developed and hosted the library event, working with OSL.
The event at Widener included time to talk with subject specialists from Cabot Science, Houghton, Human Resource Services, Loeb Music, Maps, Media Data and Government Information, Preservation and Imaging Services, Reference Services and Learning Technology and Widener Access Services. Research librarians and specialists were on hand to answer questions and to speak with parents about their sons' and daughters' needs. Special guided tours brought parents into the stacks and reading rooms to hear the remarkable history of Widener, and gave them a chance to learn about the services and programs that support learning and research.
