George Clark, Environmental Research Librarian, recently published an article entitled “Academic Geography for Sustainability” in the Bytes of Note column in Environment Magazine. George is a contributing editor for Environment, and frequent author of the column, which appears in each issue. (May 2009)

Wallace Dailey, Curator of the Theodore Roosevelt Collection, recently authored an article entitled "The Theodore Roosevelt Sesquicentennial at Harvard University," which was published in the Fall 2008 issue of the Theodore Roosevelt Association Journal.
In April, he spoke at The President’s Wife and the Librarian, an exhibition at the New York Society Library. His essay, "A Note on Edith Roosevelt's Papers at Harvard University," was included in the exhibition's catalogue. (April 2009)

Susan Fliss, Associate Librarian for Research, Teaching, and Learning, recently gave a presentation titled "Pensionnaires dans deux patries: Franco-American Girls in New England and Quebec Boarding Schools." The presentation was given in Quebec City in mid-November at a joint conference of the Association for Canadian Studies in the United States and the American Council for Quebec Studies. Haden Guest, Director of the Harvard Film Archive, Fine Arts Library, has published an interview he conducted with the Argentinean director Lucrecia Martel, when she was visiting the HFA. The interview is in the Winter 2009 edition of BOMB Magazine, a quarterly arts and culture publication. (February 2009)

Haden Guest, Director of the Harvard Film Archive, contributed an article, “Experimentation and Innovation in Three American Film Journals of the 1950’s,” in the Duke University Press anthology, Inventing Film Studies, published in September 2008. (May 2009)
Cheryl LaGuardia, Research Librarian in Widener Library, has been awarded an Emerald Literati Network Award for Excellence 2009. The award, Outstanding Reviewer, is for her work with the journal, Reference Services Review (RSR). Cheryl was nominated for the award by the RSR editors, Eleanor Mitchell, Director of Library Services at Dickinson College, and Sarah Watstein, AUL for Research and Instructional Services at UCLA, based on "the very impressive and significant contribution [she has] made as a Reviewer to Reference Services Review throughout 2008." Steve Livernash, Media Technician for the Harvard Film Archive, Fine Arts Library, was honored with a special commendation on Sunday, February 8, by the Boston Society of Film Critics for "setting a sterling example of film projection as a serious, aesthetic calling, and for extending his job definition to include film preservation." (February 2009)

Steven Riel, Head of HCL/FAS Cataloging Support Services, recently published an essay, titled “Cyndi Lauper: The Sadness in Her Rasp” in the collection My Diva: 65 Gay Men on the Women Who Inspire Them. The book is set for publication this month (Madison, Wis.: Terrace Books, 2009). (April 2009)

Jeff Spurr, Islamic and Middle East Specialist for the Fine Arts Library, presented a paper, "The Allure of Luxury: The Impact of the Kashmir Shawl on Dress and Design in Iran," at the Patterns of Perfection: 19th Century Textile and Carpet Design in Iran and Britain conference, held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, in April. He also recently published an article, "Dressed to Impress: Central Asian Robes from the Marshall & Marilyn R. Wolf Collection," in Hali Magazine, Spring 2009. (May 2009)
