Judaica Collection
The Judaica Division collects in great depth materials covering all aspects of Jewish life and culture in every place and period, with particular comprehensive coverage of Jewish life and culture in the State of Israel. These materials, from all parts of the world, in all languages, include books, pamphlets, periodicals, microfilms, maps, newspapers, posters, broadsides, photographs, microforms, sound recordings, videotapes, electronic databases, and other ephemera. Special emphasis is placed on materials in Hebrew, particularly from the State of Israel, which constitutes the single largest component of the Judaica Collection. Significant holdings can also be found in other libraries of the Harvard College Library, such as the Fine Arts Library, Houghton Library (rare books), and Loeb Music Library, as well as in libraries of other faculties, such as the Andover-Harvard Theological Library (Harvard Divinity School), Harvard Law School Library, and Countway Library of Medicine.
Judaica materials stored in the Harvard Depository fall into two categories:
those marked "Harvard Depository" and those marked "Harvard
Depository Consult Judaica Division." Materials not marked "Consult
Judaica Division" should be requested through the HOLLIS catalog.
Materials marked "Consult Judaica Division" should be requested
through the Consult Judaica Division
Request Form. They do not circulate and will be made available for use
in the Phillips Reading Room.
Questions and comments, including requests for new materials and inquiries about using the Judaica collection, should be directed to the Judaica Division via e-mail or to Cheryl LaGuardia, Research Liaison to the Judaica Division, via e-mail.
