Boston Map Society
About the Boston Map Society
The Harvard Map Collection is home to the Boston Map Society. The society was formed in 1994 to bring together people with an interest in collecting, studying, using, and preserving maps. Membership is open to everyone and includes map collectors, curators, dealers, and individuals with a general interest in maps.
Upcoming programs and events include various topics related to cartography and are open to the public. Topics at Past Events have included fire insurance maps and their digital reformatting, our annual "Map Bazaar" where members bring in maps from their collections for identification, a historical survey of the early maps and charts of Japan, openings for the Harvard Map Collection's map exhibits, and a presentation on cartographic methods from 1940 to the present.
