FAS affiliates (students, faculty, and staff in the College or Graduate School of Arts and Sciences) who have an FAS email account can print with PaperCut. PaperCut works with either a PC or a Mac laptop.

How do I add money to my FAS printing budget?

You can do this online by logging in to PaperCut with your FAS email username (the part before the @ symbol) and your e-mail password. The next screen allows you to add printing funds using a credit card, charging it to your termbill, or using a Crimson Cash card.

What if my job isn’t at the printer?

First check which printer you sent your job to. You can confirm this by logging on to PaperCut and clicking “recent print jobs.” You can check which printer the job was sent to and if it successfully printed.

How can I get a refund if my job doesn’t print?

Contact the HUIT help desk at 617-495-9000 or ithelp@harvard.edu for a refund. In order to process a refund, they need to know which printer you sent the job to, when you sent the job, and how much money you lost.

How do I re-connect to the FAS Server in order to print?

Each time you restart your computer, you’ll need to re-connect to the print server before you can print. the easiest way to do that is to create a shortcut on your desktop that you can double-click before printing.

  1. Right click on your desktop, and select New, then Shortcut.
  2. In the Create Shortcut window, type the name of the print server for your printer (see the list of printer locations to determine which of the two print servers hosts the printers you want to print to) as the location of the item, and click Next to continue.
  3. When prompted to name the shortcut, type the name of the print server, followed by the name of the printer. e.g. fas-print-1 - ADAMS1. Keep the name short so that Windows will display the whole of the name on the Desktop. HUIT asks that you retain the name of the print server in the name for information, should you need to open a support incident about printing or PaperCut.
  4. Click Finish to create the shortcut.
  5. If you print to another printer on a different print server, repeat the process above for the other print server. If you print to two different printers on the same print server there is no need to add more than one shortcut.
Do I need to install PaperCut or reconnect to the FAS Server in order to print with a loaner laptop?

No. Loaner laptops print using Unipring, not PaperCut.
