One of the defining figures of American independent cinema in the 1990s, writer and producer James Schamus was the creative force behind many of the decade's most intriguing works. Along with his partner Ted Hope, Schamus founded Good Machine, the maverick label that released such films as Todd Solondz's Happiness, Todd Haynes's Safe and Nicole Holofcener's Walking and Talking, as well as Schamus' remarkable collaborations with Ang Lee (Eat Drink Man Woman, The Ice Storm, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, to name a few). In addition to his industry work, Schamus has also served as a professor of film studies at Columbia University. For this special event, he will present a sneak preview screening of an upcoming release from Focus Features, the studio he now heads.
Special Thanks to Focus Features and David Rodowick.
