In conjunction with the symposium “Setting Up the Document: Anthropological Aesthetics and the Documentary Turn” comes a series of documentary works by visual artists. This series will feature films and video works by artists on the December 11 panel and others whom they cite as influences, or whose work bears comparison. These works feature what one reviewer has called “composed observations.” The nature of those compositional devices, or rather, the extent to which they reinforce the activity observed, will be up for discussion when the panelists meet to share and discuss recent work.
This program is co-presented with the Fogg Museum of Art. Special thanks to Linda Norden and Stephen Prina.
