The Harvard Film Archive is pleased to host the third annual Boston Latino International Film Festival (BLIFF), which focuses on alternative films with social content from Latin America and on films dealing with Latino issues in the United States. The festival uses the magic of cinema to transport its audiences on a journey to other places, through the eyes of other lives. Offering viewers information about various Latino subcultures, the films break through stereotypes to strengthen intercultural relations between the Latino community and other ethnic and cultural groups. The festival hopes to provide an outlet for new Latino producers and directors who are often underrepresented in commercial festivals, to provide access for Boston and surrounding communities to films that portray Latino and Latin American communities, and to contribute to the area's increasingly multicultural environment.
