Michael Blackwood has been making documentary films about artists, dancers, musicians, and architects since the mid-1960s. His seminal documentaries are shown regularly in conjunction with retrospectives at museums and galleries around the world. Artists documented include Francis Bacon, Roger Corman, Christo, Jim Dine, Frank Gehry, Steven Holl, Pablo Picasso and Laurie Anderson. The vast Michael Blackwood Collection at the Harvard Film Archive includes original masters, video masters, and 16mm prints of his vast oeuvre, chronicling the history of late 20th century art.
